Giving customers more control over the colors and materials used within their cars is an option usually reserved for higher-end brands. But for 2011, Chevrolet will allow Corvette to have a say in how their ‘Vette’s engine is built.
New Z06 and ZR1 Corvettes, which are now assembled at the Performance Build Center (PBC) in Wixom, MI, are utilizing an all-new process suitable for Chevy’s new Engine Build Experience program.
“Corvette owners are some of the most passionate – and most involved – enthusiasts in the industry,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “The Corvette Engine Build Experience offers customers an unprecedented opportunity to participate, hands on, in creating the car.”
Unfortunately, having a say over how your engine is built will come at a cost – an additional $5,800 plus travel to Detroit.
