The Camaro represents an iconic model within the Chevrolet lineup, and its return after a temporary disappearance has its challenges for the automaker. At a time when an increasing number of new car buyers are looking to smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles, Chevrolet is hoping that this sports car can still appeal to a wide audience.

The V6-powered Chevrolet Camaro is expected to be the biggest seller expects Detroit Chevrolet Dealers, with fewer sales going to the thirstier and more expensive V8 model. Chevrolet says that the V6 powered Camaro will have about 300 horsepower, with an expected 0-60 time of about 6.1 seconds. The Camaro should also run through the quarter mile in about 14.5 seconds.

Although the performance numbers on the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro aren’t concrete just yet, the V6 Camaro should be a force to be reckoned with, even for the Ford Mustang and the all-new Dodge Challenger.

Although the Camaro is lacking when it’s compared to the V8 powered Mustang and Challenger SRT8, it still has many advantages says Chevrolet New Orleans dealer customers who look forward to the new Camaro’s release. Among early prototypes, the cabin is reportedly quiet, and the handling and suspension offers precise control. Compared with the competition, the Camaro may prove to be slightly more refined.

The upcoming Chevrolet Camaro is expected to be in dealer showrooms in March of 2009 and Chevrolet San Diego dealers and others are eagerly anticipating the release, and expect huge demand despite lower overall auto sales. The RS package will include 20 inch wheel and tires over the standard 18 inch. Early prototypes have also features a rather high pitched exhaust note for the V6 that will make drivers crave the smooth roar of the V8.

For those needing extra power, New Mexico Chevrolet dealers assert that the 6.2 liter V8 engine shouldn’t disappoint. With over 400 horsepower, that should be enough to appeal to most muscle car enthusiasts. In addition to V8 and V6 offerings, it’s expected that Chevrolet may also introduce a turbo-charged four-cylinder model as well.

Potential buyers can expect that the Chevrolet Camaro will have a base price of around $25,000. That’s a bit pricy considering that the V8 powered Mustang and Challenger are priced in that range. However, based on consumer interest at autoshows, that price point may not be that unreasonable. And, considering the ride quality may also be better than that of the Mustang and the Challenger, Chevy may have a huge success on their hands.
