by Chevrolet in the News on June 1, 2008

General Motors is moving forward with an ambitious new sales, service, and marketing program that will reach the full array of GM brands, including Chevrolet, Buick, Saturn, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Hummer, and Saab. GM’s new plan will officially be underway as of June 1st, which Birmingham Chevrolet dealers and others are eagerly anticipating.

Part of the new GM sales/marketing initiative will align all sales and marketing for the company’s various brands under a single executive. New executive posts will include a North American VP of the Chevrolet channel headed by Ed Peper, a North American VP for Buick-Pontiac-GMC headed by Susan Docherty, a North American VP of GM’s premium Cadillac-Hummer-Saab change headed by Mark McNabb formally of Nissan, and finally Saturn will continue to have Jill Lajdziak as general manager but will gain sales responsibility.

Each of the four General Motors channels will report to Mark LaNeve, who is GM’s sales, service, and marketing head. The new reorganization is intended to streamline the process of GM’s marketing and sales initiatives. One of the most important aspects, which pleases Bob Watson Chevrolet, is that the new plan eliminates a regional manager in which field personnel reports to. Now, the field team reports to the channel heads directly.

Dealers will benefit from General Motor’s new initiative. According to Chevy dealers Chicago, this new system will enable customer and dealer feedback to travel to GM execs much easier than before.
