Fuel prices are on the rise again which is bad news for consumers. But this trend isn’t so bad for General Motors, whose new Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV continues to rack up accolades among Virginia Chevrolet dealers.
Due to increasing fuel prices, and unwavering interest in the new EV, GM will reportedly double Volt production in 2012 to meet demand. A Springfield Chevrolet dealer states that production for this year has already been increased from 10,000 units to 60,000 units. If additional increases come to fruition, that could move production next year up from 25,000 units to 120,000 units.
Additional production may also coincide with the introduction of another vehicle featuring the Volt’s innovative powertrain.
