A slew of all-new police cruisers are heading to take down Ford’s dominance. The Blue Oval is hoping to maintain its standing in the segment by replacing the aging Crown Victoria with a new Taurus-based Police Interceptor. Chrysler is also aiming to boost its market share in the segment within the next several years, and Carbon Motors is a start-up that’s launching the E7 which is designed from the ground up for law enforcement.

With all these changes, new comers, and growing ambitions for the segment, General Motors is looking to offer exciting new products to law enforcement as well.

Chevrolet already is offering a powerful Caprice-based police vehicle that offers a 6.0-liter V8 engine under the hood, producing 355 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. But now according to recently released technical manuals,  a new “Detective package” will soon become available, which adds a stealthier, more civilian look while offering the same powerful engine and features.

Check out the tech manual for more details. And of course, don’t expect a version of the car to become available for retail.
