The all-new Chevrolet Aveo compact will officially be entering production next year. Although the current Aveo is not the most exciting compact on the market, the Chevrolet Aveo RS Concept, which debuted at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, got plenty of consumers excited about what the the next-generation Aveo might bring.
As of this morning, new images of the next-gen Chevrolet Aveo sedan were leaked. The 2012 Aveo will reportedly feature a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline four-cylinder Ecotec engine, similar to the unit found on RS Concept. This engine produces 138 horsepower. A naturally aspirated four cylinder engine will also be available on the base model.
Based on these recent images, the 2010 Chevy Aveo will look very similar to the RS Concept from the Detroit Auto Show, which is a very good thing. Unfortunately, no word yet on whether there will be a performance model available, like the RS Concept, when the Aveo goes on sale. Regardless, the fresh exterior styling and attractive interior design should make it competitive against the all-new Ford Fiesta, which goes on sale this summer.
