Chevrolet’s support for those serving in the U.S. armed forces runs deep, offering a range of incentives as part of the GM Military Discount program; but it also supports those folks in another way, too: By providing vehicles that deliver plenty of value. In fact, the Chevy Traverse was just named the “Best Value” in the Large SUV category by the USAA, a premier provider of insurance, banking, investment and retirement products and services specifically for veterans and those serving in the military and their families.According to East Texas Chevrolet Dealer, vehicles are chosen as “Best Values” based on the USAA’s unique and proprietary methodology that takes into account criteria like cost, safety and reliability. According to the organization’s results, “With a higher than average horsepower for its size, the Chevrolet Traverse doesn’t sacrifice fuel economy. It also ranked as the ‘Best Value’ pick two years in a row in the large SUV category due to competitive pricing. The Chevrolet Traverse is a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.”
Putting the numbers on that praise, the Traverse packs a standard 281 hp and 266 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to its advanced V6 engine—featuring direct injection and variable valve timing—and can achieve EPA ratings of up to 17 mpg city/24 mpg highway. It also delivers best-in-class storage capacity, comfortable seating for up to eight, an available rear-seat entertainment system and plenty of useful technologies, and the entire Traverse package has been upgraded significantly for the new model year.
The 2013 Traverse, with an MSRP that starts from $29,510, now wears a more athletic exterior design, highlighted by a fresh face up front with sharp chrome accents and sculpted corners; a redesigned cabin with sophisticated trim and more soft-touch materials; a smoother, more car-like driving experience, while retaining a 5,200-lb. tow rating; and new safety measures, including a front-center airbag.
“The Chevy Traverse is a family vehicle without compromise,” said Maria Rohrer, Chevrolet Traverse marketing director. “It offers space for up to eight people, with the utility, flexibility, fuel economy, and safety features families on-the-go desire.”
